Our Aims

The management and staff of Sundial Lodge aim to create a residential home where courtesy, comfort, security and service are of paramount importance.

Sundial Lodge is a Georgian house – a building of character and dignity. It stands well back from Parkhill Road, fronted by well kept lawns and gardens which add charm and grace to the setting. One can get a glimpse of the sea from the large sun terrace in front of the main house. The delightful Daddyhole Plain and Meadfoot beach are within easy walking distance.

We, therefore insist that staff should be courteous and helpful at all times, creating a relaxed, congenial and pleasant relationship with residents.

Each apartment at Sundial Lodge is self-contained and centrally heated with equipped kitchenette and a private bathroom (some have shower units). Residents are at liberty to use their own furniture if they wish.

All apartments are equipped with a 24-hour “on-call” system. Residents have keys to their own apartments and to the main entrance door. All are free to come and go as they please, there are no restrictions.

A substantial and varied 3-course lunch is served by the staff around midday. Residents dine in their own apartments, and are encouraged to invite friends and family to join them as guests.

A wide variety of groceries including bread, butter, sugar, milk, eggs, fruit juices etc are supplied and delivered to each apartment weekly. We also do our utmost to cater for individual dietary requirements.

For those who wish to be entertained, there are diverse activities such as short coach trips to places of interest and local theatre visits. We provide transport to and from medical appointments and shopping trips three times a week to the Torquay town centre, The Willows and St. Marychurch precinct on our private minibus.

Our lounge is bright, airy and tastefully furnished. Here residents can meet informally to take tea or coffee, which is served daily at 10.00am and 3.00pm.

There are various indoor activities, with visiting musicians and other entertainers who attend regularly. There is also a weekly library service.

On summer days, one can enjoy the delights of the open-air, such as garden tea parties or to simply relax on the garden seats in the sunshine.

So ever mindful of our aims, high ideals and aspirations we are confident that Sundial Lodge will stand the test of time, being regarded as a home of quality, distinction and reliability.

We shall endeavour to uphold this reputation and guard it jealously with pride and dedication.
